National Drug Authority (NDA) has concluded a 5 -day compliance enforcement operation targeting drug outlets in South Western region covering 9 districts of Ibanda, Kasese, Rwampara, Isingiro, Kamwenge, Kitagwenda, Kiruhura, Ntungamo, Mbarara and Mbarara City.   During this operation, a total of 152 drug outlets that were operating without licences or with unqualified personnel were closed and 340 boxes of assorted medicines worth over 85,000,000 Uganda Shillings were impounded.   This operation is in line with NDA’s mandate to protect and promote public health through effective regulation of human and animal medicines, and healthcare products. NDA informs the operators of outlets whose drugs have been impounded to visit our South Western Uganda regional offices in Mbarara to be guided on how to comply in order to receive their drugs. St. Francis Drug shop in Rutookye, Mitooma district and Glorious Drug shop (owned by a one Glorious Tumuhimbise) in Kagamba, Ntungamo district were found in selling GOU drugs.
