The Ministry of Health has released 338 million shillings to the Kagadi district Ebola Taskforce for Ebola Viral Disease response.
George Gulyetonda, the Kagadi district communications officer told Uganda Radio Network in an interview on Wednesday that the money will be used by the Ebola taskforce in risk communication, facilitating health workers ,case management and surveillance to curb the spread of Ebola in Kagadi district.
Paul Bahizi, the Kagadi district surveillance officer reveals that currently they are closely monitoring three suspects who presented with symptoms similar to those of Ebola and that they have taken samples from them.
The samples were sent to Uganda Virus Research Institute for testing.
Yosia Ndibwami, the Kagadi LCV Chairperson says the district had requested for 1billion shillings from the government to help fight Ebola but the health ministry has allocated only 338 million shillings.
Kagadi is one of the districts battling with the Ebola outbreak in the country after it registered a case of a 23-year old man who succumbed to the virus last month. The case is of a 23-year-old man who died from St. Ambrose Charity Health Center IV in Kagadi.
The district has also established an Ebola treatment unit at Kagadi general hospital.
Government confirmed the outbreak of Ebola Sudan variant on September 20, 2022 in Mubende district. The disease has since spread to the districts of Kyegegwa, Kassanda, Kagadi, and Bunyangabu with 58 total confirmed cases and 19 deaths.
