Teachers in Rubanda district under their Uganda National Teachers’ Union (UNATU) have asked the government to consider their district as a hard to reach one, in order to help them get special support.
During the district celebrations on Wednesday to mark the World Teachers’ day held at volcano hotel in Rubanda town Council which was under the theme “Transformation of Education begins with Teachers”, the teachers led by the UNATU Chairperson Rubanda branch Anthony Musasizi Ngambeki said that the district is surrounded by the lake, forests, hills, and rugged terrain which makes it hard to navigate through.
The Rubanda District Chief Administrative Officer Alex Kwizera said that once the district is considered as a hard to reach area, this will lead to salary enhancement of teachers by 30 percent which can help in better service delivery.
