The Ntungamo District Education Officer Fred Bahati has expressed disappointment over the secondary schools failing to comply with government policies of improving student’s skills.
Bahati noted, that most schools have made it a habit not to participate in co curricular and the Secondary Science and Mathematics (SESEMAT) activities which must stop hence-forth.
He made remarks over the weekend as chief guest during the Secondary Science and Mathematics (SESEMAT) exhibition held at Kyamate SS Ntungamo Municipality.
Bahati said that only 16 secondary schools participated in the Science Exhibition out of 72 schools under the SESEMAT programme in the Region of Ntungamo district.
He revealed that the Secondary Science and Mathematics (SESEMAT) programme has been recognized as an effective tool in enhancing the quality of teaching and learning science and mathematics in secondary schools.
The Coordinator of Science Fair in Uganda Mudde Moses from the Ministry of Education and Sports, commended the schools that participated in the innovation which will help them to improve on their skills.
The Regional chairman SESEMAT Lion Byamukama Wilson encouraged students to embrace innovations and creativity as the only way to improve their communities through problem solving.
